Medical Assistant – Bilingual (English/Spanish)

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Bilingual Medical Assistant to support both clinical and administrative functions at our clinic. This role serves as a key point of contact for our Spanish-speaking patient population and ensures smooth daily operations across front office and clinical settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical
· Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection following established protocols
· Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during clinical visits
· Record and update patient vital signs, health histories, and chief complaints in the EHR
· Administer medications or injections as directed by licensed clinical staff
· Maintain cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms and clinical supply areas
Front Office & Patient Services
· Answer incoming phone calls professionally and route or resolve inquiries in a timely manner
· Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using the practice management system
· Coordinate patient referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up care
· Conduct patient outreach and care gap closures, particularly for chronic disease management
· Assist with insurance verification and registration as needed
Bilingual Patient Support
· Serve as a primary interpreter for Spanish-speaking patients during clinical visits and phone calls
· Translate written patient education materials and instructions as needed
· Bridge communication between clinical staff and patients to ensure informed consent and care understanding
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
· High school diploma or GED; Medical Assistant certificate or diploma from an accredited program
· Current phlebotomy certification or demonstrated phlebotomy competency
· Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
· Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting
· Proficiency with EHR systems (eClinicalWorks, Epic, or similar)
· Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills
Preferred
· CMA (AAMA), RMA, or NCMA certification
· Experience with chronic care management or care coordination programs
· Bilingual testing may be required

· Salary: Commensurate with experience
