Test Technician | Contract Assignment
Location: Schaumburg, IL
Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Hours: Flexible, ~ 8a to 5p
Employment Type: Contract Assignment
Work Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday

Join our team as a Test Technician and become a vital part of advancing material testing and quality assurance in a dynamic, innovative environment. In this role, you will be at the forefront of characterizing a wide variety of materials—metals, textiles, plastics—across different temperature ranges, ensuring materials meet rigorous safety and quality standards critical to industries such as construction and medical device manufacturing. Your expertise will help shape the development of safer, stronger, and more reliable products through precise testing and detailed data analysis.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in sample preparation including molding, machining, or cutting materials into standardized forms
• Experience setting up and operating testing equipment with grips, fixtures, extensometers, and strain gauges
• Ability to run tensile, compression, and bending tests accurately, monitoring load, extension, and deflection in real-time
• Skilled in data collection and analysis using software such as MTGenius to determine material properties like yield strength, tensile strength, and Young’s modulus
• Strong understanding of safety standards such as ASTM and ISO, with strict adherence to safety protocols
• Basic computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel)

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with alloy verification equipment
• Familiarity with industry standards and vendor certification comparisons
• Certification in safety or testing procedures

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree (AS) preferred
• Prior experience in materials testing or a related field is advantageous

Other Requirements:

• Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and industry standards
• Must follow calibration and maintenance procedures for testing equipment
• Ability to work in a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned
