The purpose of this position is to preserve the appearance and upkeep of Town parks, medians and facilities. This is accomplished by directing crews to accomplish daily, weekly, monthly and annual work to maintain Town parks, medians and facilities. Other duties include maintaining equipment, assisting with special projects, providing support and direction to employees and interacting with citizens. - Operate a variety of motorized equipment such as a lawn mower, tractor with various attachments, top dresser, sod cutter, turf sweeper, paint sprayer, weed eater, edger, blower and other related maintenance and landscaping equipment; operate a variety of hand tools
- Supervise and communicate effectively with crews to maintain all of Town parks and facilities, (mow, edge, trim, fertilize, herbicide, clean restrooms, plant, irrigate and clean appearance)
- Meet daily with crew to discuss assigned projects and time allotted to complete projects and provide clear expectations
- Meet with superintendent on a regular basis to provide progress reports of current and completed tasks and review upcoming projects
- Provide feedback to employees regarding performance and contribute to annual performance reviews. Work with superintendent to provide documentation as needed for disciplinary action as required by town policy
- Perform task related to maintenance and preparation of athletic fields, parklands and other municipal grounds; clean restrooms and assist in the maintenance of park facilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned; inspect equipment before use; complete daily operations reports
- Performs building maintenance on Town facilities as needed
- Assist with landscape installation, ball field renovation and preparation, and special events preparations when needed
- Ability to work with the public in a customer service/problem solving capacity
- Other duties as assigned
- 5 years in Landscape/Maintenance Experience
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Class C Operator's License with good driving record
- Requires the ability to work outside for long hours in all types of weather
- Ability to lift and carry 20-50lbs frequently
- Ability to operate mowers, trimmers, edgers, chain saws, tractors, back hoe, dump truck and various other types of equipment in a safe manner
Outdoor environments; work in inclement weather with regular work hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules. Working with machinery, around moving vehicles/objects; on slippery or uneven surfaces; exposure to grease and oils; fumes from fuel exhaust, vibrations, noise; some work in or with water. Continuous sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying, up to 50 lbs.; climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling; must be able to operate assigned vehicle. Limited computer use may be required. Adhere to all safety guidelines and wear safety equipment where required. Need manual dexterity and visual activity.
