What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Alarm Lead Technician - New Construction position at TRL Systems Talent Management Team?
We are seeking an experienced Lead Fire Alarm Installer – New Construction to oversee and perform the installation of fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial construction environments. This role is responsible for leading crews, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring installations are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with new construction projects, understands blueprint reading, and can lead technicians in the installation of complete fire alarm systems from rough-in through final commissioning.
Essential Functions:
- Install conduit, wiring, backboxes, and fire alarm devices
- Lead the installation of commercial fire alarm systems in new construction environments
- Supervise and mentor installation technicians and apprentices
- Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and construction drawings
- Coordinate daily tasks with project managers, general contractors, and other trades
- Conduct panel installation, terminations, and system layout
- Ensure installations comply with NFPA codes, local AHJ requirements, and project specifications
- Manage material usage and coordinate jobsite deliveries
- Perform quality checks and ensure work meets company standards
- Support system testing, pre-testing, and final inspections
- Maintain jobsite safety and enforce company safety protocols
Position Requirements:
- 3 years in construction and/or low voltage installation
- 3 years installing security equipment in a commercial environment
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid California Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
- Must be able to work weekends, nights, split shifts, and rotating shifts (if needed).
- Punctuality and regular attendance
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to drive for 2 hours in a work shift/day, daily.
- Ability to drive, walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, under all temperature variations.
- Work environment may be construction sites, commercial buildings, and multi-tenant properties.
- Ascend/Descend and work at heights above 6ft and extreme heights, occasionally
- Move/Transport/Install/Remove items weighing 50 pounds, daily
- Pushing/Pulling using upper extremities, daily
- Position self to work in confined spaces, occasionally

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all California locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
