Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Project Manager (APM) with 5 to 7 years of experience in heavy civil construction and strong proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting infrastructure projects—preferably for government agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)—and will play a key role in managing schedules, project coordination, and documentation from preconstruction through close-out.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling (Primavera P6) & Cost Estimating:
- Develop, manage, and update Primavera P6 schedules, including baseline creation and resource loading.
- Analyze schedule variances and prepare look-ahead schedules and recovery strategies.
- Ensure compliance with USACE scheduling requirements, including narrative updates and earned value reporting.
- Coordinate scheduling needs with superintendents, field engineers, and subcontractors.
- Cost estimating activities such as quantity take-offs and assisting with estimate updates as needed.
Project Management Support:
- Assist the Project Manager with construction planning, procurement coordination, and overall project execution.
- Attend and document project meetings with clients, engineers, and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in heavy civil construction with increasing responsibility.
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6, able to independently develop and manage project schedules.
- Experience supporting cost estimating and budget-related activities for civil projects.
- Prior experience with government contracts (USACE, NAVFAC, DOT) strongly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, means, and materials.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
