Role:
The Director of Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for all Engineering and Quality functions at Triton, including Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control/Quality Engineering. This role ensures Triton's technical teams deliver safe, high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions that support production, new product launches, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. The Director of Engineering is responsible for technical direction, engineering workflow management, quality performance, APQP/NPI execution, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance.

Responsibilities
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of all engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Maintain engineering queue and prioritize resources. Maintain engineering dashboards for leadership.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Provide expert technical guidance and support to resolve complex manufacturing issues and unexpected problems on the production floor, often using data analysis and root cause analysis techniques. Lead 8D, A3, DMAIC investigations. Identify the need for new or updated procedures, tools and processes that will improve product quality and processes that will provide continuous improvement.
New Product Introduction (NPI) and Technology Integration: Collaborate with departments during APQP and product development to ensure seamless integration of new products into the manufacturing line. This may involve evaluating and integrating new technologies and automation systems to enhance capabilities. Validate manufacturability, routing, BOM's, fixtures, and cycle times. Ensure PPAP and quality documentation is complete. Ensure smooth handoff to production.
Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives using methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to enhance productivity, reduce waste, improve efficiency, and optimize manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, welding, automation and tooling improvement opportunities. Improve machine capability and process robustness.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control/Quality Engineering teams. Lead, mentor, and train/cross train a diverse team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability. This includes hiring new talent, conducting performance evaluations, succession planning and supporting professional growth through departmental performance KPI's.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for Leadership Team and collaborate effectively with all other departments (e.g., Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Production, Sales, Finance) to ensure cohesive and efficient operations. Support Sales/Quoting department with manufacturability input. Validate routings and labor times with Operations department.
- Training: Ensure all team members receive proper onboarding and job specific training. Maintain training matrices and standard work.
- Budget and Cost Control: Monitor engineering and quality budgets including labor, project budgets, improve departments efficiency. Lead cost reduction and track savings. Propose capital investments.
- Quality Control & Quality Engineering Oversight: Accountable for product quality, scrap reduction, and rework elimination. Maintain inspection standards, control plans, and FMEA's. Lead investigations and ensure timely closure of complaints. Maintain calibration systems and gage requirements.
- Engineering Chage Management (ECO/ECR):Lead and approve engineering change order process and NPP (New Part Process) with timely implementation. Maintain document control standards. Ensure ECO closure times meet target.

- Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient aptitude in metal fabrication, machining and welding.
- 3-7 years managing or leading multi team engineering departments
- Proven experience delivering complex multi-team projects.
- In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles and their application in a job shop environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and resources simultaneously.
- Calm under pressure, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Software skills include Solid Works, Nano CAD, Meta CAM, Nucelo
- Proficient in using scheduling and ERP (MieTrak) software to track production progress.
