About the Opportunity
The Senior Billing Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for clients. This individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of the billing process, including recurring service contracts, project-based billing, and time and materials invoicing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in billing operations, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and a passion for accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process high-volume, complex customer invoices in accordance with contract terms (recurring services, time & materials, fixed-fee billing).
- Manage the complete billing cycle to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and account management teams to validate billing data and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and update billing schedules in the ERP or billing system.
- Monitor customer accounts for non-payment or irregularities and assist with collections as necessary.
- Reconcile billing-related general ledger accounts and support month-end closing processes.
- Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external billing inquiries.
- Assist with audit requests and provide necessary documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline billing operations and reduce errors.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience in billing or accounting, preferably within the service, technology, or security industries.
- Strong understanding of billing processes, revenue recognition, and accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP systems and billing software; Sage Intaact preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with contract or subscription-based billing.
- Familiarity with operations in the security or fire protection industry (e.g., alarm systems, monitoring, guard services).
