What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Technician position at Trinity Valley School?
Full time, Non-Exempt
Trinity Valley School | Fort Worth, Texas
About This Opportunity
As a Facilities Technician at TVS, you're not just maintaining buildings. You're the reason a science lab is ready for an exciting experiment, an athletic facility can welcome student-athletes, and a theater space is ready to inspire creativity. Your work directly shapes how students learn, ensures teachers can teach, and impacts the way families and guests experience Trinity Valley School.
This role is for someone who takes pride in getting things right, who finds satisfaction in solving problems before they become disruptions, and who understands that a well-maintained space is foundational to learning. You'll work alongside a dedicated Facilities team under the direction of our Director of Facilities, tackling everything from routine maintenance to event setup, always with an eye toward keeping our community safe, comfortable, and ready for what's next.
What You'll Do
Your days will be varied and purposeful. You'll respond to work orders with a sense of urgency and attention to detail, and perform general maintenance, cleaning, and repairs across our campus. You'll conduct regular inspections of equipment and building systems, catching potential issues before they impact our students and staff. When you spot something beyond your scope, you'll communicate clearly with your team and recommend the right solutions.
You'll ensure that fire, safety, health, and environmental regulations are consistently maintained-because you understand that this maintenance protects our community. You'll keep maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools in excellent condition, and when TVS hosts events-whether it's a Lower School performance, an athletic competition, or a community gathering-you'll be part of the team that sets up and breaks down spaces, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
You'll also be a learner, attending departmental meetings and training sessions that help you grow your skills and stay current with best practices. Flexibility will be key, as you adapt to changing needs and occasionally adjust your schedule to meet the demands of a dynamic school environment.
Who You Are
You're responsible and reliable-someone your teammates can count on. You bring a mix of technical proficiency and practical, hands-on skill to maintain building systems, and you're comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. You have experience with maintenance work, ideally including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and you approach each task with both urgency and precision.
You're a strong communicator who works well with colleagues, interacts professionally with staff and vendors, and explains technical issues in ways that make sense to non-technical people. You work well under pressure and can handle emergencies with a calm, problem-solving mindset. You're physically capable-able to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance when needed), spend long periods on your feet, and move throughout campus as your work requires.
You hold a valid Texas Driver's License. You're someone who finds meaning in supporting a school community and you recognize that your work enables all of them. You're committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, understanding that creating welcoming, well-maintained spaces is part of that commitment.
