Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician
Pay: $15–$19/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Ophthalmic Technician – Must-Have Requirements
- Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician strongly preferred
- Experience performing visual acuity and visual field testing
- Ability to measure intraocular pressure (tonometry)
- Knowledge of ocular measurements and eye muscle testing
- Strong patient care and communication skills
Ophthalmic Technician – Position Summary
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Ophthalmologist
- Perform diagnostic eye testing and assist with clinical procedures
- Coordinate surgical scheduling and obtain prior authorizations
- Support cataract surgery scheduling twice weekly at the ASC
Ophthalmic Technician – Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct visual acuity (near, distance, pinhole) and visual field tests
- Perform tonometry to measure intraocular pressure
- Measure corneal curvature using keratometer or ophthalmometer
- Complete ocular motility testing for eye muscle function
- Obtain axial length and other anatomical ocular measurements
- Administer topical ophthalmic and oral medications as directed
- Obtain prior authorizations for surgical procedures
- Schedule cataract surgeries at ambulatory surgery center
- Maintain accurate patient documentation
Ophthalmic Technician – Additional Qualifications
- Experience in ophthalmology or optometry clinic setting
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment

* Inspect lens blanks to detect flaws, verify smoothness of surface, and ensure thickness of coating on lenses.
* Set up machines to polish, bevel, edge, or grind lenses, flats, blanks, or other precision optical elements.
* Inspect, weigh, and measure mounted or unmounted lenses after completion to verify alignment and conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
* Shape lenses appropriately so that they can be inserted into frames.
* Clean finished lenses and eyeglasses, using cloths and solvents.
* Mount, secure, and align finished lenses in frames or optical assemblies, using precision hand tools.
* Examine prescriptions, work orders, or broken or used eyeglasses to determine specifications for lenses, contact lenses, or other optical elements.
* Adjust lenses and frames to correct alignment.
* Select lens blanks, molds, tools, and polishing or grinding wheels, according to production specifications.
* Position and adjust cutting tools to specified curvature, dimensions, and depth of cut.
* Remove lenses from molds and separate lenses in containers for further processing or storage.
* Lay out lenses and trace lens outlines on glass, using templates.
* Immerse eyeglass frames in solutions to harden, soften, or dye frames.
* Repair broken parts, using precision hand tools and soldering irons.
* Set dials and start machines to polish lenses or hold lenses against rotating wheels to polish them manually.
* Assemble eyeglass frames and attach shields, nose pads, and temple pieces, using pliers, screwdrivers, and drills.
