Controller (Construction / AEC Industry)
Location: Tulsa, OK (Hybrid Opportunity)
Salary: $125,000 – $135,000 annually
About the Opportunity
Trinity Employment Specialists is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller for a growing organization in the engineering, environmental, and construction services industry. This role will provide financial leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects and partner closely with executive leadership to drive performance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Manage job cost accounting in alignment with construction industry standards
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Monitor working capital and cash flow
- Oversee billing, invoicing, and collections
Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Manage multi-state property tax filings
- Coordinate with external CPA firms for audits and reporting
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
Leadership & Strategy
- Supervise accounting staff including payroll, AP, and AR
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Provide financial analysis for project, contract, and investment decisions
- Serve as liaison with banking institutions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7 years of accounting experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry
- Strong experience with job cost accounting and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Viewpoint, Unanet, Deltek, CMiC, Sage, FOUNDATION, or Acumatica
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and support executive decision-making
