Bilingual Regional Medical Assistant (Float)
Apopka, FL (Geriatric Clinic)
$18.00 – $23.00/hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Bilingual Regional Medical Assistant (Float) to support our geriatric clinic operations in the Apopka area. This role combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities and requires travel within the region to support multiple clinic locations. The ideal candidate is fluent in English and Spanish, patient-focused, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment while delivering high-quality care to an aging population.
This is a safety-sensitive position involving direct patient care and medication administration.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vitals, medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints
- Assist providers with exams, treatments, and in-office procedures
- Administer medications (oral and injectable) as directed
- Perform clinical tasks such as wound care, IV support, oxygen administration, and diagnostic testing (EKG, pulse oximetry, etc.)
- Conduct CLIA-waived lab tests, including glucose and PT/INR testing
- Draw blood and process specimens for lab testing
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments and equipment
- Provide patient education in both English and Spanish as directed
Administrative & Front Office Support
- Manage patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and phone communications
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems
- Assist with insurance, referrals, and prescription coordination
- Conduct patient outreach calls including appointment reminders and care coordination
- Communicate effectively with patients in both English and Spanish to ensure understanding and comfort
Operational Support
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
- Support quality control for lab equipment and maintain compliance logs
- Travel to multiple clinic locations within the region (up to 85%) to provide coverage and support
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (CMA or RMA)
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required
- Fluent in English and Spanish (required)
- CPR certification preferred
- IV start and phlebotomy experience preferred
- Knowledge of EMR systems and basic computer skills required
- Familiarity with medical coding, HIPAA, and OSHA guidelines preferred
- Strong understanding of medications and conditions relevant to geriatric patients
