POSITION TITLE: Product Manager (Payer)

LOCATION: Cambridge, MA (Hybrid)

This position reports to our global HQ in Cambridge, MA and is hybrid with 2-3 days onsite. Travel is expected domestically and internationally when needed.

Who We Are:

TriNetX connects healthcare organizations and researchers across the globe so they can see what’s happening in real patient populations—not guesses, not simulations.

Our aim is simple and ambitious: Provide a clear path to trustworthy answers, whether your goal is to create promising new therapies, publish groundbreaking research, or improve health outcomes.

We keep identifiable data where it belongs—inside more than 11,000 clinical sites across 20 countries—preserving security, provenance, and granularity. Our trusted partnerships with providers ensure high-fidelity data, and a properly governed linkage back to individual patients.

At TriNetX, we enable life sciences, healthcare, and academic institutions to strengthen human health—with data you can trace, evidence you can defend, and answers you can trust.

Who We Are Looking For:

TriNetX is expanding into the payer market - one of the most consequential and data-rich spaces in healthcare and we're looking for a Product Manager to lead this 0-to-1 build. This entails getting into rooms with payer stakeholders, uncovering the real problems worth solving, and translating that signal into a product direction.

This is not a role where you inherit a roadmap. You're building one from scratch, in a space where the customer's actual workflow is still being defined. You'll work closely with our Solutions team and report to the VP & Head of Product, who will be your strategic partner. What we need from you is the ability to explore, pressure-test, and execute in greenfield territory. This role will also take on adjacent vertical markets as those pipelines develop.

What You Will Be Doing:

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for TriNetX's payer vertical from day one - no playbook handed to you.
  • Work closely with our Solutions lead to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities through customer discovery, competitive research, and market analysis. Stay informed about industry advancements, payer workflows, and competitive products.
  • Build and validate business cases for new product investments, including market sizing, customer segmentation, and monetization strategy.
  • Continually refine a product roadmap that balances discovery with delivery and communicate release timelines to internal stakeholders.

Customer & Market Discovery

  • Partner with the Payer Solutions Lead to synthesize the customer and market problems they surface from payer stakeholders - including care managers, payment integrity teams, benefits consultants, and CDI teams and translate them into product direction.
  • Develop fluency in the full range of healthcare data types relevant to payer workflows, including EMR, lab, genomic, prescription, payer claims, tumor registries, and mortality data.

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Partner with Engineering and Design to move from insight to shipped product; define requirements, manage the product backlog, prioritize feature development and bug resolution, and oversee release management.
  • Work with UX/UI designers to ensure an intuitive, user-friendly experience; advocate for the end-user throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with scrum teams to groom the product backlog and plan development sprints. Break large features into epics and stories to deliver incremental value.
  • Partner with Solutions to validate product feasibility and provide PM input into business cases; bring rigor to roadmap prioritization decisions and help sequence what gets built and when.
  • Develop training materials and documentation to support product adoption and launch readiness.

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Drive alignment across cross-functional teams including Solutions Management, Engineering, UI/UX, Commercial, and Marketing.
  • Define success metrics and KPIs for product initiatives; track performance and continuously refine product direction based on data and feedback.
  • Communicate product vision, roadmap, and performance clearly to senior leadership and customers.
  • Identify cross-vertical patterns - capabilities such as AI, natural language query, or data enrichment that have shared value across payer and other verticals and work with Solutions to validate and prioritize them.

What You Bring to TriNetX:

  • ~7 years of product management experience: You're a seasoned PM who has shipped meaningful product. You're looking for a hard problem and ownership.
  • 0-to-1 experience: You’re not scaling something that already works but finding what's worth building in the first place. You know how to get signal from early conversations, separate noise from insight, and make a directional bet with incomplete information.
  • Healthcare data literacy: You've worked with clinical data in some form - EHR data, claims data, structured clinical datasets, or similar. You understand what makes healthcare data hard and how it's used. Familiarity with compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR) is expected. A background in health plan products alone is not sufficient.
  • AI-native: In the last 3–6 months, you've been actively building with AI tools — prototyping agents, exploring agentic workflows, or using AI to change how you work as a PM. You're not just following the trend; you understand the mechanics well enough to have an opinion on what's real.
  • Customer-facing comfort: You'll collaborate in customer discovery sessions alongside the Payer Solutions Lead from day one. You're comfortable in those rooms and are able to ask sharp questions, earn trust with domain experts, and translate what you hear into product insight.
  • Operates well in ambiguity: You don't need a fully formed problem statement to start moving. You're curious, experimental, and energized by figuring things out - not by executing against a known plan.
  • Strong communication skills: Able to precisely communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders without direct authority.

Preferred

  • Direct experience in the payer space (health plan, PBM, managed care)
  • Familiarity with value-based care contracting, MSSP ACOs, or payment integrity workflow
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MPH or MBA) or equivalent experience in pharma/biotech, CRO, health informatics, clinical research, life sciences consulting, or related fields
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior leaders across pharmaceutical, data, payer, regulatory, or academic organizations
  • Experience working in regulated environments and navigating compliance considerations in product development
