Job Title: Lead – Container Platform Operations (GKE)

Location: Richardson, TX (On-site)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Container Platform Operations Lead to manage and optimize Kubernetes-based infrastructure and production environments. The selected candidate will lead daily platform operations, oversee production support, manage incidents, and ensure platform availability, reliability, performance, and security. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting enterprise container platforms in a 24/7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day container platform operations, focusing on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Kubernetes environments.
• Design, deploy, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters and associated infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
• Implement GitOps-based deployments using Argo CD and Flux CD.
• Monitor platform health, availability, and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and New Relic.
• Administer UNIX/Linux systems and automate operational tasks using shell scripting and Python.
• Lead operational shifts in a 24/7 production support environment, including morning and second shifts, on-call duties, and incident escalations.
• Apply ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
• Use JIRA boards to track operational tasks, manage user stories, and coordinate activities across teams.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployments using Ansible.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 8 years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes and container platform management, with a strong focus on GKE.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, deployments, services, ingress, secrets, ConfigMaps, and networking.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing GitOps workflows using Argo CD and Flux CD.
• Strong UNIX/Linux administration skills and proficiency with the Vi editor.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and New Relic for monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.
• Experience leading operational shifts and providing 24/7 production support.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes, JIRA, incident management, problem management, and change management.
• Proficiency in shell scripting or Python scripting for automation.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and deployments.
• Strong networking knowledge, including IP addressing, ingress controllers, and load balancing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or other relevant Kubernetes certifications.
• Knowledge of container security, RBAC, network policies, and secrets management.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with Helm for Kubernetes application packaging and deployment.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to work on-site in Richardson, TX.
• Must be visa-independent.
• Must be comfortable working operational shifts and participating in on-call support.
• Candidates willing to relocate to Richardson, TX, will be considered.
