We are seeking a GSW – PSA Engineer SCADA to join our team. This role will involve engineering, configuring, implementing, and supporting real-time SCADA and EMS/ADMS systems for utility environments. Job Description
The GSW – PSA Engineer SCADA will be responsible for advanced Power Systems Application (PSA) software development, SCADA system integration, and successful delivery of mission-critical functionalities for Electric Utilities, ISOs, and Transmission System Operators. This includes functional specification development, software design, coding, testing, deployment, tuning, and system support.
The GSW – PSA Engineer SCADA will also implement and maintain real-time SCADA infrastructure integrated with GE ADMS/EMS and support communication protocols, redundancy, cybersecurity, RTU integrations, and system performance monitoring.
This GSW – PSA Engineer SCADA role requires strong experience supporting real-time systems, troubleshooting live customer environments, and working with Linux/Windows servers, databases, SCADA software, and automation scripts.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver Power Systems Application (PSA) software components per project commitments.
- Work closely with Electric Utilities, ISOs, and TSOs for specifications, testing, integration, and delivery.
- Commission, configure, and maintain SCADA servers, historians, comm front ends, and redundant architectures.
- Integrate RTUs, IEDs, PMUs using IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, ICCP TASE.2.
- Create and validate point databases, RTU maps, alarm thresholds, analog scaling parameters.
- Support FAT/SAT with field teams and ensure successful commissioning.
- Implement OS patching, system hardening, and 3rd party software installations (Oracle, NetApp, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards including NERC CIP (firewalls, TLS/PKI, certificates).
- Troubleshoot mission-critical issues using logs, system traces, and protocol diagnostics.
- Maintain configuration repositories (GitHub, ClearCase) and support DevOps workflows.
- Monitor system performance, conduct tuning, and support disaster recovery and failover setups.
Desirable Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Electric Transmission EMS/SCADA systems.
- Hands-on experience with GE Reliance (XA21) or Siemens/OSI/ABB/Schneider SCADA.
- Strong understanding of Power DMS/TMS applications.
- Experience in data modeling, network applications, and transmission systems.
- 5 years with Linux/Windows OS, C, Java, Oracle Database, SQL, shell scripting.
- Experience with real-time or mission-critical systems and deploying fixes on live systems.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance analysis skills.
- Experience with Git, ClearCase, and automated testing tools.
- Knowledge of Reliance Grid Apps, SQL/PLSQL, object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with GE SCADA, GridOS RT, Proficy Historian.
- Scripting (Python/Shell), server tuning, RHEL, Windows Server.
- Experience with SEL RTAC, Siemens SICAM, ABB RTUs (preferred).
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master’s degree with specialization in Power System Applications (PSA) preferred.
Experience Range
6–8 years in SCADA/EMS/PSA engineering and integration.
