Java Developer – Spring Web, Spring Batch, Kafka, Microservices

We have a well-established and experienced development team and are looking to bring on Java Developer to complement our existing talent. The ideal candidate is passionate about Java development, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to real-world enterprise applications from day one. You will be supported and mentored by our senior developers as you grow your skills across Spring Web, Spring Batch, Kafka, and microservices. We embrace a modern, AI-assisted development culture and encourage our developers to leverage the latest AI tools to boost productivity and code quality.

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the existing team to develop and maintain Spring Web and Spring Batch applications.
• Support integration efforts with Kafka and other messaging systems under the guidance of senior team members.
• Contribute to microservices development, learning distributed system concepts in a hands-on environment.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and features, delivering them within agreed timelines.
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to continuously improve code quality.
• Assist in debugging and troubleshooting issues raised in production or testing environments.
• Help keep technical documentation up to date for features you work on.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot and other available models to assist with code generation, debugging, and documentation.

Required Skills:

• Basic to intermediate proficiency in Java and some familiarity with the Spring Framework (Spring Web or Spring Boot).
• Understanding of core programming concepts such as OOP, data structures, and design patterns.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and how web services interact.
• Basic experience with version control tools such as Git.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within an established team.
• A proactive attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and grow.

Nice to Have:

• Any exposure to Kafka or other messaging systems (academic or personal projects welcome).
• Basic awareness of microservices architecture or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or any cloud platform such as AWS.
• Some experience with or understanding of CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices.

Added Advantage — AI-Assisted Development We strongly encourage and value the use of AI tools in day-to-day development. Candidates who are comfortable or curious about leveraging AI to enhance their workflow will stand out.

This includes:

• Using GitHub Copilot and its multiple available AI models to assist with code completion, suggestions, and generation across Java and Spring-based projects.
• Leveraging AI models for automated code reviews, test case generation, and documentation drafting, reducing manual effort and improving output quality.
• Applying AI assistance for debugging and root cause analysis, helping to identify issues faster and more accurately.
• Using AI-powered tools to explore and learn new frameworks or APIs more efficiently, accelerating the onboarding and learning curve.
• Staying up to date with the evolving landscape of AI coding assistants and being open to adopting new models and tools as they become available within the team's approved toolset.

Familiarity with AI-assisted development is not a strict requirement but is considered a significant advantage and reflects our team's commitment to modern, efficient, and innovative engineering practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 8 years of relevant Java development experience — internships and academic projects are considered.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.
• Any hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT for development, or similar platforms is a bonus.
