Summary

We are seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineering leader to modernize and evolve our DevOps capabilities, delivering faster, safer, and more reliable delivery of technology solutions across the enterprise. Today, our DevOps team primarily maintains and operates CI/CD and automation tools. This role will help us transition to a modern DevOps and platform engineering model by building scalable automation, standard DEI practices, and self-service capabilities that empower application and infrastructure teams. This individual will serve as a technical leader and change agent, helping establish standards, reusable platforms, and automation practices while mentoring teams and improving developer operational experience.

Responsibilities

• Platform & DevOps Strategy:
• Assess current DevOps tooling, pipelines, and strategies;
• Define and execute a roadmap to modernize CI /CD and automation capabilities;
• Establish scalable DevOps and platform engineering standards;
• Partner with architecture, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to improve delivery practices.
• Cl/CD & Automation Engineering:
• Design and standardize CI /CD pipeline patterns and templates;
• Improve build, deployment, and release processes;
• Implement automated testing and deployment strategies;
• Reduce manual deployment and provisioning activities.
• Infrastructure & Environment Automation:
• Lead the adoption of infrastructure as Code ( IaC);
• Enable automated environment provisioning and configuration;
• Improve consistency across development, test, and production environments.
• DevSecOps Enablement:
• Integrate security controls into delivery pipelines;
• Implement automated scanning and compliance checks;
• Improve secure delivery practices without slowing development.
• Developer & Platform Enablement:
• Improve developer experience through standardized tooling and templates;
• Build self-service capabilities to reduce operational friction;
• Create reusable "golden path" patterns for application teams.
• Leadership & Coaching:
• Mentor engineers and development teams on DevOps practices;
• Help teams adopt automation and modern delivery approaches;
• Promote collaboration between development and operations teams.
  

Requirements

• 8 years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, Cloud, or platform engineering roles
• Proven experience designing and implementing C I/CD pipelines at scale
• Experience with infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, or similar)
• Experience working in hybrid or Cloud environments( Azure )
• Experience automating build, deployment, and infrastructure workflows
• Strong scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
• Experience integrating security into delivery pipelines
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Experience modernizing enterprise DevOps practices
• Experience with corporate ERP platforms or Kubernetes environments
• Experience implementing GitOps or modern deployment models
• Familiarity with observability and reliability practices
• Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments
  
  

This is a 12-Month Contract opportunity with our Topeka, KS client.
