Engineering & Architecture Lead

Summary

Our client is seeking a hands-on Engineering & Architecture Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of next-generation AI-powered insurance solutions. This role is ideal for a technology leader equally comfortable defining enterprise architecture strategy, building scalable systems, and driving engineering excellence across platforms. The Engineering & Architecture Lead will set the engineering standards, design Cloud-native architectures, and provide hands-on guidance to engineering teams across web, data, AI, and application domains.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture standards and reference architectures.
• Govern solution design reviews to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Lead and mentor the Engineering Team to deliver high-quality, resilient solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices including DevOps, CI/CD, Cloud-native development, test automation, and AI enablement.
• Lead by example; designing, developing, and reviewing performant, secure code using modern tech stacks.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10 years of Software Engineering experience with 5 years in architectural leadership.
• Hands-on experience as a Technical Architect with deep expertise in building business systems and platforms.
• Experience designing, building, and productionizing systems (not just POC or R&D work).
• Ability to mentor and guide mid-level to senior engineers through technical reviews.
  
  

Preferred

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Background in Insurtech, FinTech, or regulated financial services.
• Experience delivering scalable direct-to-consumer insurance platforms and AI-driven personalization systems.
• Expertise in Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), container orchestration, microservices, APIs, and serverless architectures.
• Practical experience with AI/ML pipelines, data engineering, and MLOps frameworks.
• Certifications including TOGAF, AWS Certified Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or AI/ML Specializations.
  
  

This is a Remote 6-Month Contract-to-Hire opportunity with our Topeka, KS client.
