What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Controller position at Tribute Companies?
Location: Wilmington, NC
Tribute is seeking a Construction Controller to strengthen reporting, project controls, cost visibility, and process discipline across a multifamily construction portfolio. This is not a traditional accounting controller role. It is a senior construction operations role for someone with strong financial fluency, sound judgment, and the ability to improve clarity and accountability without creating unnecessary disruption.
We build roughly $100 million annually, typically across three active multifamily projects ranging from $20 million to $60 million and approximately 150 to 450 units. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a seasoned operator who can help leadership get better information, improve consistency across projects, and bring more rigor to forecasting, cost control, and operational follow-through.
This role is designed to begin with ownership of processes and reporting, with strong leadership growth potential over time based on performance, fit, and credibility.
What you'll do:
This is a hands-on leadership role for a construction professional who is comfortable in both the numbers and the realities of job execution. The right person will be able to pressure-test assumptions, spot weak explanations, and improve accountability through stronger systems and better reporting.
What we are looking for:
The strongest candidates will likely come from backgrounds such as Project Executive, Director of Project Controls, Director of Construction Operations, or a senior project leadership role with strength in forecasting, job cost, buyout, and operational discipline. Candidates from respected regional or national builders with meaningful multifamily experience will be especially attractive.
You should have:
This is a broad, high-impact role with meaningful exposure to both the financial and operational side of the business. It is designed for a construction professional who wants to step into a position with immediate influence over reporting, project controls, cost visibility, and process discipline across a significant multifamily portfolio. The right person will have the opportunity to build credibility quickly, work closely with senior leadership, and grow into broader leadership responsibilities over time. For someone with strong judgment, operational maturity, and leadership ability, this role offers a clear path to increased influence and long-term advancement within the company.
