Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist in Charge, the Pharmacist will be responsible for appropriate implementation/compliance with Pharmacy policies and procedures. The Pharmacist will also comply with federal and state requirements for monitoring and reporting. The Pharmacist will monitor the performance of pharmacy staff to ensure that all tasks and functions are conducted, as required.
Responsibilities
- Practices within the scope of Pharmacist licensure and maintains an active, unrestricted license
- Protects and preserves patient rights, including but not limited to strict protection of patients’ personal health information (PHI) and complete compliance with all HIPAA standards
- Screens medication orders for accuracy, contraindications, and drug interactions
- Supervises all pharmacy department staff to ensure proper workflow
- Assists with the oversight and responsibility for Pharmacy Staff orientation/continued training
- Serves as a resource to all professional staff for questions or other information relating to the use of pharmaceuticals
- Provides and promotes education to patients, patient families and the community about pharmacy products and services
- Informs Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist in Charge of patient comments and complaints
- Responsible for the effective operation of the pharmacy
- Works with Client Services and Hub teams to effectively communicate with customers and resolve customer issues.
- Responsible for ensuring that delivered products and services have complete and appropriate documentation regarding the products delivered, services rendered, patient education provided and all business-related activities, e.g. contact with providers, vendors, etc.
- Responsible to communicate patient needs to physicians and case managers in a professional manner
- Responsible to monitor client’s medical needs over the phone, as required
- Performs QA studies, as needed (competency assessments)
- Participate in meetings of the company to include Staff Committee requiring pharmacy representation, as needed
- 50% of overall responsibilities are dedicated to Quality Management
- Monitor staff performance according to objectives and Quality Management Program
- Promotes effective written/verbal communications
- Promotes and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies regarding the operation of the pharmacy to include FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions for specific drugs;
- Promotes education for company employees
- Promotes the education of patients, patient families, and the community
- Participates in personal professional growth and development
- Completes the required CEU’s mandated to maintain licensure
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. A Pharm D preferred with an MBA
· Experience: Previous call center pharmacy support, DM programs, Quality and UM. Exposure to mail order.
· Licenses/Certifications: Licensed pharmacist in the state of Arizona and multistate licensure required.
· Special Skills:
o Independence with regards to clinical discussions and evaluations;
o Ability to use pharmaceutical and medical reference literature to provide drug information to health plans, patients and prescribers;
o Management skills preferred; and
o Good interpersonal skills required.
· Technical Skills:
o Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system application and
o Digital dexterity e.g. use of computer keyboard.
· Applicants must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background investigation.
