The hiring range for this opportunity is $23.08 to $31.00 per hour along with incentive opportunities, creating a competitive total compensation package based on our pay scale, and may be modified by location and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Consumer/Business Loan Specialist I is the primary back-office liaison for branch sales staff and bank customers on all consumer loans that are accepted through normal Bank Branch delivery channels. The Specialist accepts pre application/referral applications from Bank employees and “owns” the relationship until the loan is ready to board. The Specialist contacts the customer to gather application information and submits the application for underwriting review. The Specialist is responsible for all compliance related aspects of the application submission, including joint intent and HMDA. He or she ensures that customer contact is maintained on a regular basis throughout the processing period either by direct follow-up with the customer or indirect follow-up through the branch sales staff as required. The Specialist notifies the branch sales staff or customer of loan approvals, appraisal and title status, answers questions during the loan processing period and coordinates loan closings between branch and customer. He or she ensures all customer and Bank concerns are addressed in an efficient manner so as not to slow the closing process down. The Specialist performs a final review on all consumer loan files prior to documents being ordered to assure that the interest rate, terms and overall loan structure is correct. The Specialist offers advice on consumer loan structure, acts as a mentor to the sales staff, maintains a high degree of interaction to avoid customer defection and provides the highest level of service possible. While a Specialist I is primarily responsible for the consumer loan applications, the Specialist I may from time to time submit and process Branch Small Business applications. The Specialist I will be familiar with the Small Business application process and will assist when needed with the Small Business application process.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures that all approved consumer and small business loans are boarded and processed in the shortest amount of time possible while providing the highest level of customer service to branches and customers.
• Acts as a liaison between back-office underwriting groups, sales staff and customers; insures a high standard of customer service is provided to the Bank’s front line customers.
• Adheres to current underwriting guidelines and procedures of Tri Counties Bank and makes recommendations for second looks on declined loans based on proper justifications.
• Has a working knowledge of title and escrow procedures.
• Must possess the ability to assist with and mitigate consumer loan issues, and assist with small business loan issues
• Must possess the ability to evaluate complex loan applications and work with credit underwriter to propose loan structures to meet customer’s needs.
• Works with banker and/or customer to ensure loan is structured correctly and accurately to meet customer’s request; assist loan center as needed to make certain loan packages are complete for boarding.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures compliance as it pertains to the origination and processing of consumer loans with all applicable regulatory requirements including but not limited to; SAFE Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B), Truth In Lending (Reg Z), RESPA, Flood Insurance, Military Lending Act, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Suspicious Activity Reporting, Fair Lending, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA),OFAC, Identity Theft Red Flags, privacy – GLBA and Non-public Personal Information (NPPI) regulations, Information Security Guidelines, Unfair Deceptive or Abusive Act or Practices (UDAAP), and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA).
• Maintains a current understanding of Bank policies and procedures in compliance with all federal and state laws, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (SARs, CIP, OFAC), Information Security (GLBA), Identity Theft Red Flags, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, and any other applicable regulations that may be specific to your job duties.
• Assures that the value assigned to automobiles, recreational vehicles and other non-equity collateral is valid by use of automated valuations programs such as Kelly Blue Book and National Automotive Dealer Association.
• Works directly with automobile dealerships to assure contracts presented to the bank are accurate.
• Maintains a high level of understanding on Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) procedures and policy regarding private party vehicle transactions to assure accuracy and proper documentation is completed to perfect the Bank’s collateral.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED
• High school diploma or GED required.
• College degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of recent experience in consumer lending or related financial services business required.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of consumer credit lending including but not limited to consumer loan sales, marketing, underwriting and collections.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to utilize personal computers and Windows-driven programs.
• Ability to be registered as a mortgage loan originator (MLO) in the Nationwide Mortgage License System and Registry (NMLS).
