Role Description
We are seeking an insurance coverage associate attorney to join the Professional Liability Practice Group in our Chicago office. Litigation handled by this fast-paced and collaborative group includes local and national engagements involving professionals, executives, and insurance companies.
The ideal candidate would have approximately 2-3 years of insurance coverage experience in both professional and general liability matters with basic state and federal litigation experience being a plus.
Essential job duties include:
- Assisting with litigated general and professional liability coverage and bad faith matters in both state and federal courts.
- Analyzing coverage issues and drafting coverage position correspondence.
- Preparing pleadings, discovery, and motions.
- Communicating with clients and preparing reports to clients.
- Participating in status conferences, court hearings, depositions, and mediations, as necessary.
- Participating in case strategy and execution in highly-valued, complex, and contentious litigation.
A successful candidate will also:
- Enjoy working collaboratively in a team setting with partners, associates, paralegals, and law clerks.
- Have experience handling general and professional liability coverage matters.
- Have a basic understanding of state and federal litigation or be willing to learn.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be skilled in legal research, analysis, and writing.
- Have superb administrative and organizational skills.
- Possess polished presentation skills.
- Be diligent, driven, and eager to learn.
- Possess the ability to work independently and take ownership of their work.
Qualifications
- Active bar license in Illinois
- Insurance coverage experience for matters both in and out of litigation.
- Litigation experience in either state or federal courts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional writing, organizational, and advocacy skills.

Salary : $113,000 - $132,000
