Job Overview
A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Trademark Associate to join its trademark practice in Chicago, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to engage in substantive trademark work, including some copyright and IP agreement responsibilities, while collaborating with partners in a growing practice group serving a sophisticated client base.
Duties
- Manage a diverse portfolio of domestic and international trademark matters, including clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.
- Develop and execute prosecution strategies, including overcoming refusals.
- Perform trademark clearance searches and assessments.
- Assess copyrightability and prosecute copyright applications.
- Advise clients on brand launches and enforcement strategies.
- Prepare and advise on commercial agreements related to intellectual property.
- Handle enforcement matters, including TTAB proceedings and federal court cases.
- Collaborate with international counsel on cross-border trademark strategies.
- Mentor associates and paralegals within the practice group.
Requirements
- 5 years of substantive trademark experience at a law firm or in-house.
- Strong background in trademark prosecution and enforcement.
- Experience with international trademark portfolios.
- Excellent writing and client-communication skills.
- Collaborative working style and creative problem-solving approach.
- Admission to the Illinois bar (or eligibility to waive in).

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
