Music DJ Operator

The Trenton Ironhawks are members of the ECHL and play home games at CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey. The Ironhawks are entering their inaugural season in 2026-27 as the ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders and the AHL’s Hamilton Hammers.

The Ironhawks are bringing professional hockey back to Trenton and are committed to creating an exciting, high-energy game day experience for fans throughout New Jersey and the surrounding region.

We are seeking an energetic, creative, and highly reliable Music DJ Operator to help create the soundtrack and atmosphere for Ironhawks home games at CURE Insurance Arena.

The Music DJ Operator is an essential part of the team’s in-game entertainment team. This position is responsible for selecting and playing music, sound effects, stingers, crowd prompts, and other audio elements that complement the action on the ice and keeps fans engaged throughout the game. We’re looking for someone who understands that the right song at the right moment can change the entire building.

Responsibilities

• Operate the in-arena music and audio system during Ironhawks home games.
• Select and play music that complements the pace and emotion of the game.
• Provide music for player introductions, pregame, intermissions, stoppages, goals, penalties, power plays, and other game situations.
• Provide appropriate music for promotional features, contests, sponsor activations, and other events.
• Use sound effects and audio stingers appropriately throughout the game.
• Coordinate closely with the PA Announcer, Game Presentation Director, scoreboard/video operator, promotions team, and other game-night personnel.
• Follow the game script and production cues while remaining flexible enough to react to the action on the ice.
• Maintain appropriate music levels and ensure that the PA Announcer and other game audio remain clear and prominent.
• Prepare playlists, cue points, sound effects, drops, and other audio assets before each game.
• Maintain and organized digital music library suitable for professional sports presentation.
• Represent the Ironhawks and CURE Insurance Arena in a professional and enthusiastic manner at all times.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong knowledge of music across multiple genres and eras.
• Knowledge of software (7 Point Audio, Sports Sounds Pro, Sound Director, etc.).
• A natural understanding of what makes a sports crowd react.
• The ability to take direction and adjust quickly during a live event.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Professionalism, reliability, and punctuality.
• The ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with hockey and sports entertainment is strongly preferred.
  
  

This is a game day, in-person position based in Trenton, New Jersey.
