Position Overview
Tremson is seeking a Recycling Yard Operator / Supervisor to manage day-to-day activity in our recycling yard. This is a hands-on role that combines equipment operation, traffic coordination, and oversight of incoming and outgoing material.
The right candidate will be comfortable running equipment, directing traffic, and maintaining control of a busy yard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming dumping customers and ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the yard
- Check tickets and verify material quantities (yardage)
- Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable materials or contamination
- Direct and coordinate multiple trucks and vehicles in the yard at once
- Operate excavator to process wood, shear stumps, and prepare material for grinder
- Operate loader to load mulch and materials for customers
- Maintain organized material piles and safe working conditions
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal team members to keep operations efficient
- Monitor and maintain general yard cleanliness and order
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience operating excavators and wheel loaders
- Ability to manage a fast-paced yard environment with multiple trucks moving at once
- Strong awareness of safety, traffic flow, and job site coordination
- Ability to identify unacceptable materials and enforce yard rules
- Reliable, organized, and able to take control of daily operations
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience operating wood shredders and stacking conveyors
- Experience running a barko/log loader
- Experience using chainsaws for processing material
- Background in recycling, land clearing, or mulch production operations
