Position Summary
Trebro Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Production Planner to develop, manage, and optimize production schedules that support customer delivery commitments and operational efficiency. This position serves as a critical link between Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing to ensure materials, labor, and production capacity are aligned to meet business objectives.The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, understands manufacturing processes, and excels at balancing competing priorities in a dynamic production environment. Success in this role requires proactive communication, effective problem-solving, and the ability to anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts before they impact production or customer deliveries.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, labor availability, and manufacturing capacity.
- Convert sales orders and forecasts into executable production plans.
- Sequence production orders to maximize throughput, minimize downtime, and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor schedule attainment and adjust plans as required to address changing priorities or production constraints.
- Collaborate with Production Supervisor to ensure schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with available resources.
- Maintain accurate production planning data within ERP/MRP systems.
Capacity & Resource Planning
- Analyze production capacity, labor availability, machine utilization, and material requirements.
- Identify potential capacity constraints and develop mitigation plans.
- Balance workload across departments and work centers to optimize throughput.
- Support long-range planning and capacity forecasting activities.
- Recommend schedule adjustments to improve efficiency and meet customer commitments.
Material Coordination
- Partner closely with Procurement and Inventory teams to ensure materials are available to support production schedules.
- Monitor material shortages and work proactively to minimize production disruptions.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding critical material requirements.
- Assist in inventory optimization efforts while maintaining service levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Quality teams to align priorities and expectations.
- Communicate schedule changes, risks, and constraints to affected stakeholders.
- Participate in production meetings and operational planning discussions.
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and new product introductions by incorporating changes into production plans.
Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor key planning and scheduling metrics.
- Analyze production performance against plan and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop reporting and dashboards to improve visibility into production performance.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend process improvements to increase schedule reliability, throughput, and customer satisfaction.
QualificationsEducation
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent manufacturing planning experience will be considered.
Experience
- 3 years of production planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or related experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems for production planning and scheduling.
- Experience with inventory management and material planning preferred.
