Job Description
The Technical Writer - I at the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) will be a key player in developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation, including reports, test plans, and other technical materials. This position requires a meticulous individual with strong writing skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with standard software applications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college coursework in English, technical writing, or a related field is desired
- Editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to identify and correct errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to document formatting and layout principles
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with engineers and other technical staff
- Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in all documents and adherence to configuration management requirements
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Prior experience in a technical writing or editing role
- Familiarity with T&E documentation and procedures
Physical Qualifications
The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment- Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time
- Must be capable of lifting 25 lbs. unassisted

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must be able to successfully complete a background check
- Must possess or be able to obtain an interim security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment
