What are the responsibilities and job description for the 24-25 School Bus Driver Trainee position at Transportation?
This is a driver training program (up to 8 hours per day). Successful completion of the program could result in an offer for a permanent school bus driver position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to operate school buses of any size and related equipment
- Acceptable riving record
- Successfully complete the School Bus Driver physical.
- Pre-employment FMCSA DOT Drug Screen
- Eligible for CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with students, parents, supervisor and fellow workers
REPORTS TO:
Director of Transportation and Transporation Trainer
JOB GOALS:
Training to acquire a Class B CDL License with Passenger and School Bus Driver Endorsement
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Arrive to class on time every day and exceptional attendance.
- Participate in book study
- Active participation in Theory, Range, and Behind the Wheel Training
- Complete written assessments
- Obtain their full license in a time span no longer than 8 weeks
- Must pass Commercial Driver's License ("CDL") test on no more than (4) attempts
FLSA: Non-Exempt
CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
Salary Schedule: Minimum Wage until obtains Commercial Learners Permit and then placed on the School Bus Driver Salary Schedule.
