What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Mechanic position at Transportation?
An assistant Mechanic position is available for the 26-27 school year.
This would be an 4 hour per day position occurring weekly, Monday – Friday. Overtime, call-in’s, and weekend hours may occur at various times of the year as needed. Summer Hours will be adjusted as needed to fit the department’s needs.
This position could be combined with a bus driving position for a total of 7 combined hours daily.

This position’s requirements could change at any time based upon district needs.
Applicants must pass a child/dependent abuse background check, pre-employment drug screen, DOT Physical, must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Drivers License within 45 calendar days of employment, and fulfill the requirements to obtain a School Bus Driver Authorization form the Iowa Department of Education.
Pay is based upon the 26-27 Appendix A wage classification schedule with a minimum starting wage of $20.49 per hour. Starting date is flexible depending on applicant availability.
