What are the responsibilities and job description for the Companion position at Transition Consults?

As a support service professional, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a young man with a desired goal of engaging in community and social activities. Your responsibilities will include providing transportation to local activities and other destinations. Staff will need to develop strategies to communicate effectively. You will also encourage community outings such as bowling, volunteering or going to the movies to encourage social development goals while ensuring their safety.
Part time hours:
- Saturdays 12pm - 4pm. (Can be flexible)
- $17/hour
Experienced Staff will:
- Provide transportation to and from the client’s place of employment and community outings
- Promote social development and self advocacy
- Take the client out into the community to engage in physical activities
- Assist the client with learning new skills in his home environment
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record.
- Adhere to AWC rules and regulations for vehicles.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Be willing to undergo any necessary background checks.
- Be willing and able to provide transportation after dark and during inclement weather, within reason.
