What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Transition Consults?
We’re seeking a dedicated, structured, and experienced Support Professional to support a 40-year-old male with a mild intellectual disability and complex behavioral needs in the Cranberry Township, PA, area. You will be working with a very caring individual who has a deep love for sports and highly knowledgeable about computers. He values routine and structure and thrives with clear expectations, and requires preparation for any transition.
This is a high-value role for a professional who excels at maintaining a consistent and structured environment. Your primary function is to provide essential supervision to ensure the individual's health and safety overnight and mitigate risk related to complex behavioral needs, including a history of elopement.
Schedule & Location
- Hours: Up to 40 hours per week.
- Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Pay: $25/hr
Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors
- At least 6 months of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism, or in a related field
- Willingness to undergo necessary clearances
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record
- References available upon request
Experienced staff will:
- Experience working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors
- Ensuring safety of the client, preventing elopement
- Strictly adhere to behavior support plan
- Establish clear authority - providing clear, firm leadership and adopting professional demeanor that the individual recognizes as the “person in charge”
- Uphold consistency and rules
- Support the individual in self-growth opportunities
- Implement strategies that promote independence and self-direction
