We are looking for a seasoned and highly organized Controller to oversee the accounting and financial functions for an expanding portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This leadership position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, developing and guiding a strong accounting team, and ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting across multiple properties.
Responsibilities
- Direct all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, financial reporting, and month-end close procedures.
- Lead, coach, and support the accounting team by assigning responsibilities, reviewing deliverables, and improving processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Oversee end-to-end accounts payable functions and tenant invoicing for multiple commercial properties.
- Manage accounts receivable activities, including collections, tenant account reconciliation, and CAM reconciliations.
- Review payroll submissions for accuracy and ensure payroll expenses and related allocations are recorded correctly.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements while ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Develop annual operating budgets and monitor actual performance against projections throughout the fiscal year.
- Support audit activities, tax filings, compliance requirements, and portfolio cash flow management.
- Recommend and implement process enhancements and technology improvements to support growth, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property accounting.
- Proven experience managing accounting personnel and leading departmental operations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong financial analysis capabilities.
