Youth Mentor Position Summary
BAM! is seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to play a crucial role in supporting underserved and LGBTQ youth during Art programming. This position focuses on mentorship, connection, and resource navigation, helping young people feel seen, supported, and empowered. The Youth Mentor will collaborate closely with a team to provide coordinated support, foster belonging, and expand youth access to meaningful opportunities and community resources.

Please note that this position posting will only be available for 3 weeks from the date posted. Interviews will begin the last two weeks of April.
Mandatory paid training dates are as follows:
May 27 9 am - 1:30 pm
June 3rd 9 am -1:30 pm
This is a contract position averaging 3-10 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Engage youth in meaningful conversations and build authentic, supportive connections.
- Facilitate access to mental health services, essential resources, and LGBTQ supports.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and appropriate redirection when needed.
- Monitor shared spaces, including bathrooms, and supervise youth to ensure safety.
- Organize and maintain art and storage areas.
- Assist with planning and coordinating field trips and program activities.
- Collaborate to create and maintain a dynamic resource area featuring mental health, art, college, and LGBTQ materials.
- Maintain regular communication with fellow mentors and supervisors.
- Foster healthy peer relationships and expand youth worldviews through networking and community connections.
- Support youth-centered activities tailored to participant needs (art projects, icebreakers, games, mental health activities).
- Strengthen BAM!’s connection with community resources and enhance overall youth engagement.
Requirements
- Demonstrated passion for working with youth in marginalized communities.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (preferred).
