About This Role
Under the supervision or direction of a Food Service Lead, the Food Service Assistant is responsible for preparing ingredients and dishes for final execution as well as plating warm food and executing cold dishes for delivery to guests and clients. Additionally, the Food Service Assistant will assist in the kitchen with any required tasks including, but not limited to, stocking of food and other items, cleaning, and caring for kitchen equipment. Energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the work, the people, and the customers are key to achieving success in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Event Food Service Lead in executing visually appealing hot and cold dishes
- Set up prep area workstations for best efficiency
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work area
- Inform leadership team of any failures of or maintenance needs for any company vehicles used
- Assist with loading and unloading to and from delivery vans of food and kitchen equipment
- Close the venue prep area appropriately
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification:
California Food Handler’s Card required
Experience:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation setting preferred.
- Catering and/or banquet experience a plus
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to stand or walk for up to eight (8) hours or more in a fast-paced environment requiring movement and the ability to lift/carry up to 35 lbs.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) language skills preferred
