EPC Project Manager
Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid) — A Jackson work location is preferred; flexibility considered if aligned with project locations.
Type: Backfill
Travel/Per Diem: Local candidates only. No per diem.
Department:
HVD Program Management – Interconnections (46 kV & 138 kV High Voltage Distribution)
Team structure:
- Team of 9 (Project Managers Resource Planners)
- 1 Program Manager overseeing 4 major areas
- Works closely with a large cross-functional stakeholder group (engineering, supply chain, construction, permitting, environmental, etc.)
Role Overview:
The EPC Project Manager will oversee electric distribution projects (not generation / no power plant work). The role manages 145 projects/work orders at any given time, typically valued at $30M–$60M total. Projects include line work such as:
- Pole-top assemblies
- Pole replacements
- Line rebuilds
- Pole-top rehabilitation over long distances
- Line sensor installations
- Occasional drone, fencing, transformer replacement, and substation-related activities
This position requires strong project execution, data analysis, reporting, communication, and field-to-office coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management (Full Lifecycle)
- Manage projects from conception → design → procurement → field execution.
- Oversee HVD distribution line projects across 46 kV–138 kV systems.
- Review project scope, cost, schedule, and ensure proper controls.
- Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, construction, permitting, and environmental teams.
- Maintain & track multiple concurrent work orders (up to ~145).
Data & Reporting
- Analyze project data and translate into clear reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Capture information from the field and integrate it into formal reporting tools.
- Support dashboarding and progress updates.
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide informed and frequent communication to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Drive project alignment and ensure effective collaboration.
Field Integration
- Work with field teams to capture updates, risks, changes, and execution details.
- Support new initiatives such as drone inspections, fencing programs, and equipment replacements.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 10 years of strong Project Management experience (EPC, utility, construction, or industrial).
- Background in power/electrical/utility preferred but not required.
- Ability to manage a large portfolio of small–medium projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Strong data analysis ability.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; Power BI experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with Unifier and ProjectWise preferred.
- Understanding of scope, schedule, budget, and project controls elements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree not required.
- Equivalent industry experience accepted.
