Assoc Engineering Technician (Civil Site Development Designer)
Overland Park, KS or Ann Arbor, MI

- The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician, under general supervision, performs basic functions requiring technical knowledge and use of electronic applications, standards, and document control processes/procedures in support of creating or modifying deliverable.
- This role will be responsible for the development site drainage, grading, utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.
- This role will be within the Black & Veatch Energy and Process Industries (E&PI) group, supporting client needs related to Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
- Basic Civil 3D experience is required with use of proposed grading surfaces and plan development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development of site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D. Working knowledge of Bentley MicroStation is also preferable.
- Collaborate with team members to produce site plans, detailed engineering drawings, profiles, construction drawings, and details.
- Convert field survey data into topographic survey drawings and surfaces suitable for producing site plans and construction drawings.
- Apply intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and B&V policies and procedures.
- Stay updated with industry knowledge and technology trends.
- Ensure deliverables comply with the company quality program.
- Interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
- Understand basic construction and constructability practices and principles.
- Apply basic engineering design principles and applicable design guides related to the assigned engineering discipline.
Skills:
- Basic Civil 3D experience is required with use of proposed grading surfaces and plan development - minimum 2 yrs' experience
Required Software:
- Autodesk Civil 3D
Preferred Software:
- Bentley MicroStation (2D/3D)
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
Qualifications:
- Basic Civil 3D experience is required with use of proposed grading surfaces and plan development
- Knowledge of Civil design/site layout using Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
- Diploma or Certificate preferred; Associate degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
- Typically, a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
