Toyota’s Battery Manufacturing Production Engineering Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer to work in the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) group to support the successful line-off of North America's first EV production site for prismatic lithium-ion battery cells -> battery modules to charge Toyota's future for Electric Vehicle Production.
The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare and coordinate Powertrain battery equipment to support new model launches.
This position will be located at TBMNC in North Carolina and will report to the Engineering Manager for BEV Battery.

This position will be located at TBMNC in North Carolina and will report to the Engineering Manager for BEV Battery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Completing internal and external training.
- Developing process plans for battery production lines within the Powertrain department with direct support from the Manager.
- Directly supporting other engineers or technicians through a mentorship.
- Leading the cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of battery production lines.
- Creating and maintaining detailed schedules and budgets for assigned areas.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments to achieve project goals.
- Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department.
- Construction / Equipment installations.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field.
- Experience in Production Preparation or Manufacturing and experience in execution of capital projects, preferably from initial planning to the start of mass production.
- Experience in creating and implementing processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability for business travel, both domestic and international, short (1-5 days) and long term (1-2 weeks). Short-term travel to PEMC, TBMNC, Japan, Local US Vendors, etc. could be up to 15-25% until site location and machinery arrival begins. Upon site location, the normal travel both domestic and internal will subside to 10-20%.
- Ability to work weekends and shutdown work (such as July and December holidays) as needed.
- Project management experience dealing with capital investments greater than $0.5M.
- Understanding of GD&T and ability to read and interpret 2D drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Installation experience in a greenfield setting; site-built new manufacturing facilities.
- Toyota Production Engineering experience.
- AutoCAD, or similar 2D drafting software experience.
- Experience with Laser welding.
- Toyota Business Practice experience.
- PLC experience, including the ability to investigate and troubleshoot.
- Experience and/or exposure to the battery manufacturing process.
- Japanese language ability (Rank N1-N5).
