Position Purpose
Hiring Range: $37,769 - $39,657
The Maintenance Technician for the Stormwater Division applies knowledge of stormwater system equipment and facilities to perform regular, recurring, and non-routine tasks related to the stormwater system's maintenance, repair, and installation.
This position may require working on weekends, occasional nights, holidays, and evenings as needed. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week, non-exempt position that includes benefits.

Qualifications & KSA's
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and the ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job, such as those listed above.
Licenses and Professional Certifications
Knowledge of the operation and appropriate usage of equipment; operational characteristics of general maintenance and construction equipment and tools used in work activities; basic map reading; principles of customer service; basic mathematical principles; modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; principles and practices of record keeping and reporting; occupational hazards and standard safety practices; and safe driving principles and practices.
Skilled in driving a vehicle; operating heavy machinery; interpreting and applying policies, procedures, laws, and regulations pertaining to work functions; reading maps and following a prescribed route and schedule; performing mathematical calculations at a level necessary for successful job performance; responding to requests and inquiries from the public; working independently in the absence of supervision; maintaining records used in the course of work; utilizing standard office equipment including computers and related software applications; ensuring adherence to safe work practices and procedures; understanding and carrying out oral and written directions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
The ICS/NIMS course minimums required for all employees include FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800. Additionally, employees assigned middle—and upper-level responsibilities within incident operations may be required to complete additional follow-on courses deemed necessary by Emergency Management and Human Resources staff.

Employee is generally exposed to outdoor conditions and may be frequently exposed to weather elements, including rain, wind, varying temperatures, etc. In addition, the employee must effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, fumes and smoke, intense heat, electrical hazards, confined or high workplaces, dangerous animals, extremely loud noises, hazards of working in and near traffic, and natural and man-made disasters. Work performed in this job may place the employee at risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

A portion of work may be performed within an office environment, primarily behind a desk, and frequently includes computer operation. The employee must read, write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee may move within the facility to access file cabinets, documents, office machinery, and other equipment. Travel is required daily to outside sites to perform the duties described above and attend meetings, training, events, and other business activities. Work may require walking, standing, bending, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and/or moving equipment, pushing and pulling various objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating assigned equipment, including motor vehicles. Must be able to perform medium to heavy work, exerting up to 85 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Examines areas of flooding for causes and performs remedies within the right-of-way.
- Inspects, repairs, and performs maintenance on Town-owned and contracted stormwater infrastructure.
- Locates, surveys, and maintains inventory of stormwater infrastructure.
- Locates stormwater infrastructure for work construction crews.
- Assists in making emergency repairs of stormwater infrastructure.
- Installs stormwater infrastructure and other related technical tasks, including, but not limited to, excavating to grade, laying, and aligning pipe.
- Secures work area and re-routes traffic with consideration for public safety and convenience, when necessary, per safety guidelines.
- Operates and performs routine equipment maintenance and minor field repairs, such as lubrication, checking fluid levels, and replacing belts and other components. Trailers and transports equipment to worksites per manufacturer's recommendations for boom trucks, excavators, backhoes, and vacuum trucks.
- Performs duties in accordance with all Town safety policies and other applicable state or federal regulations.
- Works irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call/extended hours as needed.
- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
