The Town of Plymouth seeks qualified applicants for the position of PARALEGAL for the Legal Department.

Responsible for supporting attorney(s) with handling cases in suit as well as non-litigation matters and special projects. Provides litigation support when preparing for trial including but not limited to collecting and organizing exhibits, sending subpoenas, corresponding with clients and witnesses, as well as assisting attorney(s) with preparing cases for oral arguments. Prepares and drafts pleadings and briefs for filing and argument, drafting discovery requests and responses to discovery requests as required. Communicates with clients, maintains extensive case files, assists attorney(s) with managing individual case loads. Performs varied legal functions requiring comprehensive knowledge of legal procedures and municipal operations and the exercise of judgment in responding to inquiries, in dealing with the public, and in administering the functions of the office. Identifies, researches, and synthesizes local, state, and federal laws, judicial decisions, and other materials that are relevant to assigned cases and legal matters/issues.
Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or postbaccalaureate certificate; at least five years of paralegal experience in municipal government; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A complete job description is available in the Human Resources Department.
