About Us:
Lipsey & Clifford is a small but growing real estate law firm dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality legal services to our clients. While our primary focus is on real estate transactions, title matters, and property disputes, we are expanding our services to include Social Security Disability (SSD/SSI) representation. We’re seeking a knowledgeable and organized Paralegal with experience in Social Security law to join our team and support this new practice area.
Position Summary:
The Social Security Paralegal will play a key role in managing Social Security Disability cases from intake through hearing and final resolution. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with Social Security claims, familiarity with SSA procedures and filings, and the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while providing compassionate support to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file initial Social Security Disability (SSD/SSI) applications, appeals, and related documentation.
- Review, organize, and maintain case files, including medical records and correspondence with the SSA.
- Track and manage deadlines, hearing dates, and follow-ups in case management software.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients, SSA offices, medical providers, and other stakeholders.
- Draft legal correspondence, memoranda, and hearing preparation documents under attorney supervision.
- Assist attorneys in hearing preparation, including compiling exhibits and summarizing medical and vocational evidence.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with firm policies and SSA regulations.
- Provide general administrative and paralegal support to the firm as needed, including assistance with real estate matters during low Social Security caseload periods.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; Paralegal certification a plus.
- 2 years of experience handling Social Security Disability (SSD/SSI) cases required.
- Working knowledge of SSA procedures, forms, and electronic filing systems (e.g., ERE, Appointed Representative Services).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
