Under close supervision, ensures a safe and clean environment by performing park and facility maintenance.
- Clears and cleans structures, sidewalks and facilities of damages and liabilities and verifies areas are in clean and safe working conditions.
- Conducts landscaping and grooming of athletic fields and turf areas, bicycle and pedestrian oasis locations, trails, Town Hall Campus, and other areas as assigned.
- Implements safety procedures and guidelines for park maintenance.
- Irrigates the grounds and parks, operates equipment, and prepares the areas for public activities.
- Performs park and facility maintenance on Town of Oro Valley assets.
- Picks up and empties trash at park locations and performs custodial duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to clean and maintain park grounds, park equipment and facilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety guidelines.
- Knowledge of park maintenance and beautification methods.
- Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.
- Skill in irrigation installation and repair.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year experience in commercial landscape maintenance or custodial operations.
- Must possess a valid Class D Arizona driver license upon the first day of employment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Work is performed in an outdoor environment.
- Must be able to lift or move up to (50) pounds.
- Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position.
