Work shifts are generally Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday from 6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. or 2:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M.The State of Arizona Pesticide Applicator License must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire / prior to completion of probationary period and must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
The following pre-employment medical tests apply to this position:

ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary
The Parks Maintenance Coordinator position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department provides guidance to groundskeepers and maintenance staff with daily tasks and workloads. This position contributes to performance evaluations, assists in the hiring process, and coordinates the equivalent of one or more full-time employees
Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks Area Supervisor. This position exercises supervision over Park Maintenance personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises and coaches employees in performing tasks such as mowing grass, weed eating, and maintaining playgrounds. Reviews workloads and assigns tasks related to facility maintenance, including turf care and equipment checks. Manages workload priorities, resources, and timelines for various tasks such as setting up park events, performing lake tests to ensure quality of water, maintaining gardens and ball fields. Participates in recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluations for employees involved in facility maintenance. Implements controls for unit staffing and effectiveness by ensuring staff is appropriately trained for maximum performance. Establishes timelines, monitor progress, and make recommendations for changes and assist in implementing department policies, projects, and procedures- . Drives to various locations to audit completed work and prepares reports on maintenance operations and staff performance. Writes, reviews, edits and submits reports on facility maintenance activities and compliance with park maintenance regulations. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal governmental regulations, other applicable rules and requirements by auditing and reporting chemical applications and maintenance procedures. Contributes to the community and city by ensuring the facilities are well-maintained and safe for public use. Engages with teams to implement organizational values and strategies by leading teams to uphold standards of excellence in facility maintenance. Leads by example in promoting accountability, adherence to organizational values and fosters positive relationships with the community through effective facility management and engagement efforts. Provides customer service by responding to constituent inquiries about facility maintenance and addresses any issues or concerns promptly

Indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalentWork Experience: One (1) year of directly related experience
License: Valid and Unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver's License
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The State of Arizona Pesticide Applicator License
