THIS PART-TIME ROLE AT THE RIVERFRONT COMMUNITY CENTER IS 25 HOURS PER WEEK, WHICH INCLUDES REQUIRED TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. THE POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR PAID TIME OFF INCLUDING PERSONAL, SICK, VACATION AND HOLIDAY, BUT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR MEDICAL OR DENTAL BENEFITS.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision of the Outreach Social Work Supervisor, incumbent oversees the daily operation of the community food pantry and coordinates all aspects of the Senior and Social Services Volunteer Program. Provides compassionate, client-centered support to a diverse population and works collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure a welcoming, respectful environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinates pantry schedules, including distribution days and volunteer coverage.
- Develops and implements efficient systems for food distribution and client tracking; coordinates client intake and distribution processes, ensuring equitable access to pantry services.
- Maintains inventory and stock levels, including purchasing, receiving, and storage of food and supplies; ensures compliance with food handling and storage safety regulations; and maintains a safe and organized environment for volunteers and staff.
- Organizes and supports food drives and donation efforts with community partners, local businesses, and organizations. Drives to donation locations as needed to collect food and supplies.
- Provides respectful, confidential assistance to clients; recognizes needs and refers clients to appropriate services and resources as appropriate.
- Coordinates volunteer schedules based on departmental needs and volunteer interests and abilities.
- Recruits volunteers using a variety of public outreach strategies including, but not limited to, print and digital media.
- Screens, selects, and places volunteers based on program needs, skills, and availability.
- Acts as a lead resource for volunteers by providing support and training.
- Maintains volunteer records, statistics, and produces related reports.
- Fosters a positive volunteer experience and supports retention efforts including, but not limited to, organizing recognition events.
- Collaborates with staff and community partners on outreach, events, and community engagement initiatives.
- Contributes to a respectful and safe work environment by fostering a culture of positive communication and ethical behavior, with an emphasis on providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Provides input on policies and procedures impacting the food pantry and volunteer programs.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:- Ability to:
- perform work in an office and food pantry/storage environment
- stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb a step stool or small ladder
- lift, carry, organize, and stock pantry items and supplies; and occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds
- push and pull carts, bins, and donated materials as needed
- perform repetitive finger, hand and arm movements associated with keyboarding, stocking, and sorting
- see objects closely as in reading a report, observing pantry inventory and workplace safety conditions
- effectively communicate and exchange information in person and by telephone
- concentrate, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in human services or a related field, plus two years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:
- Valid driver’s license
