Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Wound Treatment Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized wound care management, ensuring optimal healing and patient comfort across various clinical settings. This role requires a strong background in patient assessment, infection control, and advanced wound management techniques within inpatient, outpatient, or post-acute care environments. The Wound Treatment Nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care tailored to individual patient needs, emphasizing evidence-based practices and adherence to healthcare regulations.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments focusing on wound characteristics, signs of infection, and overall health status
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans in accordance with best practices and physician directives
- Perform wound cleaning, dressing changes, debridement, and application of advanced wound therapies
- Administer injections, medications, and IV therapies as prescribed, ensuring proper documentation and patient safety
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation, updating patient records promptly and securely
- Monitor vital signs and physiological responses to treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary
- Educate patients and their families on wound care procedures, infection prevention, and lifestyle modifications
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies regarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound management protocols
Experience
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, medical-surgical units, or specialized wound care settings
- Level II Trauma Center experience preferred; experience in emergency medicine or urgent care is advantageous
- Background working within Level I Trauma Centers or PICU is a plus
- Demonstrated expertise in infectious disease care, post-acute care, or sub-acute settings
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation and patient record management
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to wound healing and patient assessment
- Experience administering injections, IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Prior experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics or pediatric patients is desirable
- Candidates should possess current Basic Life Support certification and have a solid understanding of medical records management. A commitment to ongoing professional development in wound care techniques is highly valued.
