Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our healthcare team in a full-time capacity. We are currently offering a $2000 sign on bonus for Full Time position. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience across various settings, including acute care, long-term care, hospice, and emergency medicine. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, utilizing advanced skills in medical documentation, patient assessment, and specialized nursing procedures. The LVN will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive care to diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities or complex medical needs. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth is highly desirable.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders while adhering to HIPAA and infection control standards.
- Manage IV infusions, catheterization procedures, and ventilator support as required for specific patient cases.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health conditions.
- Support acute pain management protocols and participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care post-hospitalization or outpatient visits.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various departments including ICU, emergency room, geriatrics, and home care settings.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or PCC; document patient care activities thoroughly.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication administration, and disease management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols including sterile techniques during procedures like suturing or spinal taps.
Requirements
- Valid LVN license with current state licensure; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are required.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, ICU, emergency room, post-acute care, or home & community care settings.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and pharmacology relevant to nursing practice.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; proficiency in medical documentation is essential.
- Experience administering injections (including IV insertion), catheter care, tube feeding management, and specimen collection/processing.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams; strong critical thinking skills required for triage and acute care scenarios.
- Working knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques; experience with infectious disease care preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with patients and their families.
- Physical ability to perform nursing duties that involve lifting (Hoyer lifts), standing for extended periods, and mobility around healthcare facilities.
