BIM Drafter

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Electrical BIM Drafter to join our BIM Department. This role will support the BIM Engineer and BIM Manager in the development and coordination of electrical and telecom system models for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience with Autodesk Revit, CAD, and a strong interest in electrical construction modeling and documentation, with an eagerness to grow within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist in the setup and organization of electrical BIM models in Autodesk Revit, including levels, views, sheets, and project standards.
• Support the BIM Engineer in modeling electrical and telecom systems such as conduit, cable tray, lighting, power distribution, panelboards, switchgear, fire alarm, and low-voltage pathways.
• Prepare and organize drawing sheets, schedules, and basic construction documentation for review.
• Update BIM models based on redlines, design revisions, RFIs, and coordination feedback.
• Maintain model accuracy, file organization, and adherence to company BIM standards.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and basic material counts from BIM models.
• Participate in coordination efforts with other trades under the guidance of the BIM Engineer.
• Help manage and maintain Revit families, templates, and project content libraries.
• Perform routine quality checks to ensure completeness and consistency of deliverables.
• Assist with plotting, printing, and compiling drawing sets for internal review, field use, and project submittals.
• Support the preparation, organization, and distribution of digital and hard-copy construction documents.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Basic working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, including views, sheets, families, and basic modeling tools.
• Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, construction management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Foundational understanding of electrical construction drawings, symbols, and terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, one-line diagrams, and electrical layouts.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ability to follow direction, apply redlines, and meet project deadlines.
• Strong organizational and file management skills.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Willingness to learn BIM coordination processes and grow within the BIM Department.

Working Conditions

• Sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
• Work primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as air conditioning.
• Occasional travel to job sites may be required for coordination with field teams.
