We're seeking a Retail Fit Expert & Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team in a full-time, hybrid role that blends in-store customer experience with social media leadership and event coordination.
About the Role
This position is split approximately 50% as a Retail Fit Expert and 50% leading social media and community events. You'll play a key role in helping customers find the right gear while also representing Tortoise & Hare Sports online and throughout the community.

What You'll DoRetail Fit Expert (In-Store)
- Prioritize and serve every customer who walks through the door with warmth, curiosity, and expertise.
- Greet customers and determine needs through our proprietary 5 Point Fit Process.
- Provide expert footwear fittings and recommend appropriate footwear, apparel, and accessories.
- Share product knowledge and continue developing expertise across footwear, apparel, and accessories.
- Thank customers for shopping locally and reinforce community connection.
- Operate POS system accurately, including:
- Sales transactions
- Exchanges and returns
- Special order intake
- Maintain visual presentation standards on the footwear wall and sales floor.
- Effectively assist multiple customers simultaneously without sacrificing experience.
- Restock product after customer interactions to minimize personal footprint.
- Adhere to scheduling expectations and daily operational checklists.
- Embody store culture and values: Service, Quality, Innovation, Community, Teamwork.
Social Media & Community Events
- Lead social media content creation that reflects the Tortoise & Hare Sports brand, community, and culture across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and our blog
- Plan, create, schedule, and engage with content that highlights products, events, education, and community stories
- Coordinate and host on-site and off-site events, including fun runs and partner activations
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and on-site hosting responsibilities
- Create and manage events using Eventbrite
- Collaborate with team members on creative ideas, promotions, and community initiatives
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication with store leadership
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of experience in social media management, community engagement, or event coordination
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Comfort working independently and managing multiple responsibilities
- Creative mindset with attention to detail and follow-through
- Interest in fitness, running, wellness, or an active lifestyle
- Experience managing business social media accounts and creating content
- Familiarity with Eventbrite or similar event platforms
- Retail or POS experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and special events
- Ability to commute to or relocate to Glendale, AZ 85308
Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Full-time position with a flexible schedule based on business and event needs
- Weekend availability required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with event or retail setup as needed
