About the Role
C&S Employment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant / Tax Preparer to join a growing accounting team in Jefferson City, Missouri. This full-time, direct-hire position is ideal for professionals with experience in tax preparation and accounting who are passionate about delivering accurate financial services and helping clients meet their tax and compliance obligations. The role offers the opportunity to work with individuals, businesses, trusts, and nonprofit organizations while supporting bookkeeping, financial reporting, and tax planning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and nonprofit organizations.
- Review client financial records to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks and account reconciliations.
- Assist clients with tax planning and tax compliance matters.
- Research tax regulations and stay informed about changes in federal and state tax laws.
- Communicate with clients to collect financial information and respond to tax-related questions.
- Support payroll tax reporting and sales tax filings.
- Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and deliver high-quality service.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA, CPA candidate, Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment preferred.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and tax preparation software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written, verbal, and customer service communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
