Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve automotive manufacturing operations through process optimization, automation integration, robotics support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in automotive manufacturing environments, working knowledge of PLC-controlled systems, and hands-on experience with Fanuc robotics. This role is responsible for improving production efficiency, supporting equipment launches, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and driving operational excellence across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes for automotive production operations.
Support installation, startup, and optimization of automated production equipment and assembly systems.
Troubleshoot and improve PLC-controlled manufacturing systems and automated machinery.
Program, troubleshoot, and support Fanuc robotic systems used in welding, material handling, assembly, or automation applications.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and downtime reduction.
Analyze workflow, production methods, labor utilization, and equipment performance to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Coordinate equipment launches, process validations, and engineering change implementations.
Support preventive maintenance and root cause analysis activities for equipment failures and production interruptions.
Work closely with maintenance, quality, production, and tooling teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
Develop and maintain process documentation including work instructions, PFMEA’s, control plans, and process flow diagrams.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, ISO/IATF standards, and safety regulations.
Assist with capital equipment projects, line balancing, and plant layout improvements.
Support APQP activities and production readiness for new product launches.
Train production and maintenance personnel on manufacturing equipment and automated systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Experience with PLC troubleshooting and automated manufacturing systems.
Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotics programming, troubleshooting, and integration.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis methodologies.
Experience with automotive quality systems including IATF 16949, PFMEA, APQP, and control plans.
Knowledge of robotic welding, assembly automation, conveyors, and vision systems preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and support multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron PLC systems.
Understanding of servo systems, sensors, pneumatics, and industrial controls.
Knowledge of cycle time reduction and OEE improvement strategies.
Experience supporting high-volume automotive production lines.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or manufacturing software systems.
Work Environment
Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to automated equipment, robotics, and production machinery.
Occasional overtime and weekend support may be required during equipment launches or production issues.
