Quality Supervisor
Position Overview
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading quality assurance activities within the manufacturing environment, ensuring products, processes, and documentation meet customer requirements and company standards. This role provides leadership to quality auditors, supports continuous improvement initiatives, drives corrective action processes, and partners with production, engineering, and operations teams to maintain a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, train, and develop Quality Auditors on inspection standards, quality procedures, measurement techniques, and customer requirements.
Oversee daily quality operations including inspections, audits, documentation reviews, and production quality support.
Conduct shift startup meetings and quality reviews to address attendance, prior shift issues, production readiness, and quality concerns.
Promote and enforce all plant safety policies, procedures, and expectations; participate in safety meetings and employee engagement activities.
Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with established quality standards, work instructions, control plans, and customer specifications.
Perform process audits, layered audits, documentation audits, and KPI reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
Manage non-conforming material processes including product containment, defect tracking, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness.
Facilitate problem-solving activities using quality tools such as 8D, PDCA, 5 Why, and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Management teams to resolve quality issues and implement sustainable improvements.
Communicate quality performance, trends, risks, and improvement opportunities through meetings, reports, and shift handoffs.
Maintain accurate quality records, inspection documentation, and reporting systems.
Support continuous improvement efforts focused on defect reduction, process stability, customer satisfaction, and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred; or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and 5 years of manufacturing quality experience.
Experience in automotive manufacturing, metal stamping, body/chassis components, or high-volume production environments preferred.
Previous leadership experience supervising quality personnel strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficient with SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems, inspection methods, and process controls.
Experience using precision measuring equipment including:
Tape measures
Scales
Vernier calipers
Datamytes
Other inspection and measurement tools
Knowledge of quality methodologies including:
8D
PDCA
5 Why
Corrective/Preventive Action (CAPA)
Continuous Improvement
Experience with metal finishing and Class-A surface requirements is a plus.
