Tony’s Meat Market of Lindenhurst is looking for a friendly, dependable, and hardworking Deli Clerk to join our team.
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with customers, takes pride in keeping a clean and organized counter, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced food-service environment.
We are currently hiring for part-time and/or full-time positions.
Pay
$18–$25 per hour, based on experience, availability, and skill level.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service
- Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer specifications
- Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other deli items
- Package, label, weigh, and price products accurately
- Stock and maintain deli cases and displays
- Take customer orders in person and over the phone
- Assist with prepared foods, catering orders, and special requests
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the deli area
- Clean and sanitize slicers, knives, counters, equipment, and work surfaces
- Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and food-safety procedures
- Rotate products and monitor freshness and expiration dates
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and general store duties as needed
Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- Previous deli, grocery, butcher shop, restaurant, or food-service experience preferred
- Experience using a deli slicer is a plus
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with a team
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food products, boxes, and supplies associated with the position
- Willingness to assist in different areas of the store when needed
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Store Hours : Monday - Saturday 9 am - 6 pm | Sunday 9 am - 5 pm
- Flexible scheduling may be available depending on experience and availability
